Makes you wonder if this isn't much of our problem today...my kids managed to have jobs in High School and College while still getting good grades! Also instilled in them the idea of a work ethic....what a concept!! Who knew!
Up my way .. there are many reasons
Some parents think working will hurt their grades ..though they don't say anything about the kids hanging out at the malls
Other parents .. because they try to keep up with the Jones ... think it's their responsibility to buy them new cars
I'm old school .. you want a car .. get a job and buy it yourself like I had to
