Today Show/NewsBusters Rush-is-right/flying pig ping.
Matt Lauer only quotes Rush because he thinks it will help end the Republican majority in both the House and the Senate. He could care less what issue brings the Republicans down, just as long as more Democrats get elected. He should fool no one...but sadly, he does.
True. In fact, even before I read your comment, I had revised the final paragraph of the entry over at NewsBusters to read along similar lines:
"Of course, Lauer was relying on Rush essentially to make the point that a Republican - Bill Frist - is pandering on the gas-price issue. We won't believe the apocalypse is upon us until Katie Couric quotes Ann Coulter to taunt Ted Kennedy."
good revision
Lauer's use of the quote not only helped set up a "tear down the Republicans" comeback from Pat, but also showed how craven Rush is to use such harsh, insensitive-to- prostitutes language.
Score!
Isn't it possible to find one quote from Rush who has talked about this 3hrs a day without picking one with "foul" language? I am convinced any quote from Rush's show is supplied to the media through left-wing blogs.
Besides, government already gets more $$$ from the gas taxes than the oil companies get in profits.
Short term solution: moratorium on gas tax for 3 months.
Long term solutions: Build more refineries, drill for oil in ANWAR and off coasts, build more nuclear plants, tell extreme environmentalists to take a hike.
Excise taxes are huge costs for oil companies, they pay 10% on the first time the gas/oil is sold. The problem is what do you do when oil hits 80 or 90 bucks? And what about the budget deficit? The govt. needs the windfall of huge bucks to fund the outrageous deficits we now have.
I saw Buchanan he had one of his few lucid moments.
Over on ABC, Gibson and Chris Cuomo played a "tough on drugs" quote by Rush. They wrapped up their Rush segment by wringing their hands, hoping Rush's troubles would make him more sensitive to the plight of other addicts, but alas, Cuomo has seen no sign of a kinder, gentler Rush.
That's two things in the last week that I have agreed with PB on. Watch out, the earth may be getting ready to split in half.
Good morning to you too, rodguy. I don't take advice or inspiration from Pat HasBeen Buchanan. Interviewing him or having him on talk shows as a token Republican is an unfunny joke.
Any word on where Chris Matthews was last week? Hardball had guest hosts all week long, but I never heard a mention of why Matthews was awol. Even Laura Ingraham on her show asks "anybody know where Matthews is?".
Matthews is such a camera hound, I can't imagine him happy about missing an entire week.
Exactly, then they act like heroes when they try to "fix" it.
Friggin no good lying sacks of poo!
Have you tried solving some of our other series problems. You have this one all wrapped up IMHO. Now if Congress and the President would only listen.
Translation- He hasn't become a Liberal, or at least, a spineless Conservative afraid of the condemnation of the "Drive-By" Media.
Today's intent of using the quote is obvious, so is intent of using Pat Buchanon, but Rush's quotation was dead on about what our representatives tried to do with that proposal. If they don't want to be nailed so correctly, don't make these proposals.
