Minutemen say they've made a difference, but critics disagree
KVOA Tucson Channel 4 News (AP Story) ^

Posted on 04/30/2006 2:05:26 PM PDT by SandRat

As their month-long border deployment draws to an end, leaders of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps say their efforts have brought more attention to the illegal immigration issue and more supporters to their border security movement.

Critics are less generous in their assessment, and the U.S. Border Patrol is maintaining its neutral position ----

MM also provide jobs for ACLU and spokespeople. If the MM were not there what would the ACLU folks be doing?

They are right, you didn't hear much except the grumbling of fed up Americans among each other until the minutemen showed up then the whole issue was brought front and center.

Meetze (of the ACLU) says: "They (the minutemen) just don't have a right to cross the line and take the law into their own hands."

Actually, they do, Ms. Meetze.

As citizens, they have every right to participate in law enforcement.

You're just reinforcing a stereotype of the ACLU being subversive and anti-American.

... but critics disagree.

That's why they're called critics.

Just proves that the ACLU can't read the Arizona Constitution or the US Constitution, fine products of publik edumakation that they are, regarding the rights of citizens, the militia and what it really is, and the right to bear and keep arms.

If it weren't for the Minutemen, I don't think the country would be openly talking about illegal immigration now. The politicians would be stealthily integrating our two countries without most Americans even noticing. At least now we are noticing, but we may find that we are powerless to stop it.

The "critics" of the MinuteMen should be deported along with the illegal alien socialist communists.

Anyone who studies the timeline can see a direct parallel to the emergence of the Minutemen movement and the current state of legislative turmoil; certainly, it made a difference and only a fool would laugh it off.

What is distressing is not the taunts of our critics but the reluctance of our leaders to acknowledge that this is a genuine grassroots effort to solve a real and growing problem.

The ACLU also is present, she added, "to enable them to express their rights. They have a right to express themselves. They just don't have a right to cross the line and take the law into their own hands."

And the American Criminal Larceny Union would complain about a Neighborhood Watch being a bunch of vigilantes who should just stay inside and not violate the rights of burglars buy calling the police on them.

It would be so nice if KVOA would really investigate this:

Jennifer Allen, director of the immigrant rights advocacy group Border Action Network, said the group's presence along the border have done nothing to bring real solutions to the problems along the border.

My guess she is part of if not actively so the ACLU and what 'solutions' is she talking about - the Minutemen are not about 'solutions' they are about doing what American citizens are supposed to do....protect their country by reporting to or holding for the Border Patrol illegal felons.

Sombody get a mug shot of this Jennifer Allen so we can all see the face of this enemy.

Above all else, no matter what Jennifer Allen (director of the Border Action Network), the ACLUers or others may say, even the AP reports that "there have been no reports of violence connected with any Minuteman operations since the inception of the organization."
