John Mccain "I'd rather have clean government than the 1st amendment"

"He [Michael Graham] also mentioned my abridgement of First Amendment rights, i.e. talking about campaign finance reform....I know that money corrupts....I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected, that has become corrupt. If I had my choice, I'd rather have the clean government."

Wow, thanks for posting Smartass. Amazing to read and it refreshed a lot of things in my mind that I'd forgotten.

Yeah, it's a good idea to refresh ourselves on Mr. McInsane. I want to always honor and respect our vets, but, I think it's time he stepped down and away from politics. I believe at this point in time, he's hurting, more than helping.

I like your plan. Yours is very good too. I would like to add one further restriction to my twelve year limitation to government employment. That would be to prohibit anyone with a law degree from running for any office. (conflict of interest)
But.....since we know that the proposal would be construed as discriminatory.....lets repeal all discrimination laws while we're at it. LOL! Folks, I'm just kidding!

Look at the contributions of the corporate pacs, there is no mystery in it. Everybody who knows where K street is, knows.

The way to obviate the power of the K Street bandits is to restore freedom.
Not to further gut the First Amendment.
I'm sure you agree.

Any candidate that gets my vote in the primary or general election must...
- fight the gay agenda
- oppose illegal immigration (and this means deportation, a wall, and no guest workers)
- be pro-life without qualification
- reduce taxes
- support smaller government
If a candidate fails any of those litmus tests, I won't vote for them.

On matters of life and death and national security and sovereignty, there can be NO compromise.

Do you believe that Exxon, or should I say its multiple investors, have no First Amendment rights?
As investors of Exxon, they do not have First Amendment rights. As citizens and residents of the United States, they do. A corporate entity, though it can pay taxes, is not a citizen. It cannot exercise the franchise, and hence the ability of such an entity to interfere in elections should be limited.

Clearly McVain doesn't believe in this country's principles if they get in his way. Just like the Klintoons.

As a policy, it does not exactly have them quaking in their loafers. As a slogan, it is pure bromide.
I'd prefer a few hundred public executions myself.

Another way of putting the point of my last. At some point, all the excuses are just excuses, and extolling the abstract wonderfulness of freedom gives way to paying some actual attention to the use some people are making of it.

Oath of Office for Congressmen, Senators and the President of the United States, as set forth in the US Constitution:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
Exactly what part of this clearly worded oath does McCain not understand? Does he not understand that the Bill of Rights (including the 1st ammendment) are a part and parcel of the US Constitution?
As an Arizonan GOP who has refrained from voting for this idiot, I promise to actively campaign against him, even if he's only running for dog-catcher!

Just realized what the McCain quote reminds me of:
"I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy".

The most efficient form of government is dictatorship. McCain would love that!!! Clean government is like a government of laws, rather than of men. It doesn't always work out that way, McCain... you idiot!!! You think you're smarter that all the founders of America!!!

"It is a Rudy and Mitt deal, unless someone else gains traction to add to the mix. I really don't see anyone."You're a fine person, Torie, but I've never hope someone to be wrong so heartily as I'm hoping you're wrong with that statement. That would mean the whole nation is about to become as screwed up as CA is right now with fathead Schwartzenegger. Even the meathead would be better cause we can keep an eye on him and block him at every turn!!!

Thanks for the kind and generous note. I don't hold it against anyone, whom they prefer to win offices. And that is why, in part, I tend to get along with a rather disparate group of posters. :)

I am not sure how one deflects the meathead. Surely, it will NOT be done by the KOOK California legislature, and yes this RINO thinks they are KOOKS. Period.
