Yep, correct, he knows men in government take bribes because he has taken them himself. Guess when he tells us that our representatives are all being bribed daily, he must be making it up, right? Not like he is there, or getting the offers, or sees it happening. Or do you mean, since he was bribed, we should put up with all our representatives being bribed daily?

I'm sure you think you mean something. Spell it out for us. Are or are not our representatives regularly bribed? Do you support that and think it a good thing, or oppose it? Have you any solution or expedient to offer?

We didn't have either of theses when our Constitution was written and I find no mention of them in the Constitution, just We the People

Please show me where you find mention of either of these in the Constitution.

This isn't a theology debate, tenn. Freedom of speech and the right to peacably assemble are constitutional. Caucusing and lobbying are essential to a Republic. I am not going to waste my time trying to convince you of something so fundamental to ourgovernment. If you do not believe this by now, there is nothing I can say to change your mind.

The tiered tax code with special deductions and incentives is the other problem besides term limits. The Government needs to go to a flat income tax or a flat sales tax and eliminate all the special deductions. Recall, we did not have any federal taxes in the beginning.

Freedom to donate is freedom of speech. This is a capitalistic society, not socialistic.

McCain-Feingold seeks to silence speech and couches that infringement by using "money" as the problem. I am a life NRA member and we had to start an internet/radio program so that we could continue to lobby within the limits of McCain-Feingold. How does your parliamentary scheme combat this? When a group of politicians caucus together to eliminate the right to keep and bear arms, We the People need to caucus together to counter it and to promote constitutional candidates wherever they may be running in the country.

Please research the freedom of speech and of the press. Maybe read Levin's book, Men in Black. Maybe research Scalia's dissent on the CFR decision?

McCain's law silences this very conversation on this very site prior to an election. He thinks he can decide for us who the "press" is, and it isn't us.

Money is not directly proportional to votes. John Kerry is a testament to that. As is George Soros. Money allows a candidate to market himself. We need a whole lot more of that, IMHO, so we can have more competition, not less.

The NRA is not financed by millionaires and is the most powerful lobbying organization in history.

John Mccain "I'd rather have clean government than the 1st amendment"

Could any statement be more telling of the man's character? He doesn't want to be President. He prefers to be dictator!

Dear God.

One more time, for posterity:

transcribed, word for word (leaving out some "uhs"):

McCain: "He also mentioned about my abridgement of First Amendment Rights, i.e., talking about Campaign Finance Reform. My response to that criticism is I work in Washington and I know that money corrupts and I and a lot of other people were trying to stop that corruption and obviously from what we’ve been seeing lately we didn’t complete the job. But...I would rather have a clean government than one whose quote First Amendment Rights are being respected that has become corrupt....if I had my choice I would rather have a clean government......[chuckle]"

Bill of Rights * Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting
an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or
abridging the freedom of speech, or
of the press; or
the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Thank you for this information. I was having a hard time understanding why people would get behind a candidate that was against the second amendment.

The smart ones say something money isn't speech.

There's a better way to avoid voting for McNut than rewarding Hitlery: Vote third party, or write-in your favorite choice.

Forget third party, that will definitely get us Hitlery. Only choice is in the Republican primaries, not to let McManchurian Candidate anywhere near the nom. I will repeat that as many times as I have to.

If McPain becomes the Republican nominee for president in 2008 I will vote for a third party. It's about time the Republicans got the message that they won't win elections by being more like the Democrats. I have had it with these weak Rinos! They pander to conservatives only for their votes, while ignoring what the people want. If a Democrat wins, so be it. Maybe the country needs to be reminded of how bad the Demonrats really are. Many have forgotten already.

The only problem is that the ones running for office get to keep all the money they collect. Then they feel obligated to the donors. If they weren't allowed to keep the money, they wouldn't be under that obligation. TRUE CAMPAIGN FINANCING REFORM: All money not spent by Election Day is given back to the general fund; federal general fund if federal election, state general fund if state election, local general fund if local election.
