thank you!
Yes, it would appear so.
It's gone. Let the record show that I did not hit the abuse button.
Did you actually think the things he said were funny last night........at any level?
And if you did..........why?
(btw, the audience didn't seem to think he was funny either).
I've watched Jon Stewart, Jay Leno and David Letterman joke about the President and be funny.
This was a complete bomb at every single level. He was horrible!
Hi Jonny. In my opinion -- and apparently the consensus when the thread was live -- is that it was worse.
My PC is in the room next to my bedroom, where my TV is. I had the sound on the TV up loud so I could hear it while being on the computer to host the live portion of the Dose.
What I heard was an angry, hard-edge voice saying some really vicious things. It didn't sound like a comedy routine to me. Instead it sounded like a venom-filled speech. I didn't hear the DC audience laughing much except toward the end of the so-called comedian's segment.
Nor did I.
BTW Skunk Baxter attended the WH Correspondence Dinner in his kilt.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. Sure was fun to be so pampered here on FR
Pampering is nice, and you deserve it on your birthday!
The left is filled with hate, so was Colbert. The left has a disdain for President Bush, so does Colbert. The left has no sense of humor, neither did Colbert.
About 20% of the country is in that camp. That's it. I'd be surprised if anyone outside that 20% fringe left group really thought there was anything funny about that sick performance last night.
It really makes my blood boil.
I would like to see some of those people actually do something constructive with their free time. Something that would benefit others rather than spend their time spewing hatred towards their country.
I don't think Colbert had any intention of being funny.
I have seen him when he was very funny.
This was a very thinly disguised, hate-filled Liberal attack!
I'll say it again, this left me fuming!
What kind of life must one live..........how much anger must be inside that you would spend your time spewing hate?
They are really pitiful people. I would feel sorry for them if they weren't doing so much that harms this country and its people.
In stead of being angry with Colbert last night, I should have been praying for the spiritual protection of the President and First Lady.
I confess that I didn't think of that until later, when I did pray that any wounds they may have received would be healed.
God bless them both, and protect them from the attacks of the Evil One!
I just saw the replay of the dinner--as much of it as I could stand--and you were right. The difference between The President and Colbert was like night and day.
W was hilarious! His timing with the "alter-ego" was perfect.
The president introduces Laura.Alter-ego: "She's hot! Muy caliente!"
The president says he's going to talk about something serious.
Alter-ego: (deep breath) "Okay here it comes ... Nuclear proliferation. Nuclear proliferation. Nuclear proliferation.
W: "Nucular proliberation."
The audience was roaring! Everyone was laughing and having a great time. It was self-depricating humor at its best.
Then came Colbert ...
*crickets*
Excuse me for being a little "windy" here.
I was recording it and everytime clinton came on, I put the pause button on and muted the sound. Knowing he would speak for about 30 minutes, I went about my business and would check after about 20 minutes. The repeat was better, because we only had to see him spotlighted just once.
The media just can't seem to help themelves. Because it was the media's "big" event and they wanted the world to see them---what they couldn't control was having to share the spotlight with the one they hate---while the world saw him as a wonderful, decent, likeable human being. So, they had to make sure the world also saw their "god" and put the spotlight on him again. They didn't just spotlight him once, but THREE times. Did you notice when they made the little movie about past presidents --- they made sure the democrat presidents were focused on the most? They'll use ANY excuse to make sure people can compare their "god" to President Bush, hoping it will make people think they have really been missing something for the past 5 years.
You watch: when they want to spotlight clinton, they'll have him on for an hour or two and to make it appear fair and balanced, they'll select a Bush event that lasted about 5 minutes and when they HAVE to show President Bush, they'll give clinton MORE than equal time. Anyone who spends any time watching C-Span could think clinton was still president. They're so glaringly biased and really feel they are pulling the wool over our eyes. I write C-Span every now and then and remind them that President Bush is THE president---not clinton. About the only time they show him is when it's something they consider controversial. When he's "shining" they don't consider that newsworthy.
The liberal media doesn't like to spotlight him. Even they consider him an embarrassment. :)
President Bush has great wit and great timing. Ex42 only has self aggrandizement. If both were unknowns playing in a comedy club, people would go outside for some air 2 minutes int Clinton's act.
