Give a good reason not to hire these criminals - they might have another protest coming up and skip work, maybe to demand allowances. Absurd? What is happening now would have considered absurd not long ago.

Should have told every employee on Friday that Monday morning "no-shows" would be immediately terminated.

If "our" government officials had a clue, invaders (ie: those in the country without proper paperwork) would be rounded up at these rallies and sent home, never allowed to enter the US again. And, those with green cards who go to the rallies instead of work (don't care if they announced their intentions or not) should have their green cards revoked, also sent home for good.

this is WAR against our civilization. And our government is ignoring it.

We must make a decision if we should keep our shop open of closed on Monday. We think we will keep it closed because we have many customers that are Spanish. And frankly if the business is going to be slow, we can use the day off.

But today was really busy and tomorrow is going to be busy also. Today was the best day we have had in our store (most sales).

Should have told every employee on Friday that Monday morning "no-shows" would be immediately terminated. If you don't, what will happen when they pull this once a month, really trying to put the squeeze on us?

Just give them the day off and when they show up and on Tuesday ask them how it went, if they had a good time. Act as if you are concerned for them. Then let them know we need to get back to work.

You will get far more out of those employees that way than if you try to be a hard nose about it. And that is what it is all about, getting the most out of the people working for us.

And then when they pull this again next month? Then what, send them flowers?

It is the attitude you should have that I was addressing. Your reply seems like you don't understand or you don't agree with my managment style.

In the approach you seem to favor, you get confrontation with your employees immediately. From a dollars and cents point of view, you approach has always seemed to me to be short-sighted and to produce the lowest return on employee investment.

Certainly you have to monitor the situation. If they want a day off again next month, will that be the last time. If so, then my answer will be the same.

Of course you need to weigh the days off against you personnel policy, what is offered to other employees, etc. You must be consistant there.

Do you offer personal days to your employees? Vacation days? What are your policies on that? How do they apply?

The bottom line, I will have a happy employee and will keep an eye out that my generousity turn into more and better and happier work and that my generousity will not be taken advantage of.

You end up with an unhappy employee. How effective is you whip when that employee performs a little less because he is mad.
