WASHINGTON - Republican Rep. John Sweeney's attendance at a beer-drinking, college fraternity party has drawn criticism from Democrats who accused the New York lawmaker of using poor judgment.
"What is a 50-year-old congressman doing at a frat party at 1 in the morning cavorting with students 30 years his junior? Teaching them how a bill becomes a law?" Blake Zeff, a spokesman for New York Democrats, said Friday.

"What is a 50-year-old congressman doing at a frat party at 1 in the morning cavorting with students 30 years his junior? Teaching them how a bill becomes a law?" Much closer to the truth than the speaker intended, I'm sure. I would guess there was a line at the bathroom door to "make law".

What a moron. And he's been in office for 4 terms? I get this feeling he'll be 4-termer.

Why the hell does the
SF examiner even care about this. He is an adult, and last I knew, could attend a frat party with sons of several good friends who are graduating this year (IE: last party before graduation) Sheesh.
Oh, and Sweeney is the Rep from the fastest growing, most economically stable district NY.

Is this guy an Alpha Delt alum, or does he just like going to random fraternity parties? If the former, it makes some sense. If the latter...that's just plain weird.
I'll say this: Considering recent history, I'm not sure the Democrats want to get involved in this story. And Rahm Emanuel, in particular, needs to run from it like it was Helen Thomas in heat.

I though MSM/dems were supposed to be openminded and nonjudgemental about everything. Bill Clinton gets BJ's in the Oval Office, Harrasses God knows, how many women, and even is accused of rape and the MSM/Dems just says it's "Just about sex?" This guy goes to a frat party and the MSM/dems now suddendly have a problem?

What does the SAN FRANCISCO Examiner think of the sort of parties and their attendees that Facelift Pelosi attends????? I suspect the Examiner is upset because Dykes on Bikes are usually not invited to fraternity parties.

Because he is a Congressmen and that carries or SHOULD, certain responsbilites and choices with respect to behavior befitting the office Alright fine. I understand apperences, but it's just ridiculous to try and make hay out of a harmless little fun. Calling for responsible behavior is one thing, being a namby-pamby about an event that did not included improper activities is another.
