Reports Stating Rush Limbaugh Was Arrested Are Inaccurate; Limbaugh's Attorney Holds Press Conference at 8:00 pm Tonight
Friday April 28, 7:55 pm ET

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- A spokesman for Rush Limbaugh said some news reports that state Mr. Limbaugh was arrested are inaccurate.

Separately, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black will hold a press conference at 8:00 pm this evening at the Marriott Hotel at 1001 Okeechobbee Road in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Mr. Black will discuss the agreement reached today with the State Attorney's Office whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping that was filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months.

As previously announced, a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.

Mr. Black stated, "Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State.

"As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during the 18 month period, must pay $30 per month for the cost of "supervision" and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.

"Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won," he said.

The reporters seemed positively offended by his actions.

Yeah, too bad Rush didn't climb over the fence and fall asleep in the wrong Palm Beach compound like Robert Downey Jr. That was so cute! All the reporters loved it!

Drive By Media wrong again....

They weren't wrong, they knew exactly what they were doing.

You know the drill: Story on Page 1, correction on Page 17.

Unfortunately, his hypocrisy smells to high heaven. He would have been (and often was) the first to decry such a libertarian position on drugs.

Do you have a cite for that? I thought at the time the investigation was announced there was only one statement he had made about drugs, that pre-dated his addiction (something in the 1996 timeframe, IIRC).

I still have the remaining one, although it's probably lost all it's effectiveness.

If they are kept dry and cool, most meds retain their potency for years after their expiration dates.

"It has never been proven that his hearing loss (NOT TOTAL) is due to any drug use."

First, you are splitting hairs. His pre-op hearing loss was about the same as my own: high-end profound in terms of dB loss, complicated by severe discrimination impairment. For all intents and purposes, his loss of usable hearing was total. Anything much less and he wouldn't have been a candidate for a cochlear implant. (I also have one of those. In fact, he and I have the same doctor. Trust me, his loss was as total as you'd ever want to see, and I pray you never experience it.)

Next, you are correct, the specific cause of his loss is not conclusively known. His diagnosis, autoimmune inner ear disease, is not well understood, and it is not understood what triggers it. However, the progress of his loss (bilateral, rapid onset, unresponsive to several therapies) also mimics that which can arise from opiate abuse. I also recall that public disclosure of his diagnosis came well before his legal troubles and his admission of his oxycontin abuse. That is why I used the word "may" in my post. And I stand by that "may": his AIED hearing loss may, indeed, have resulted from his opiate abuse. The chances are good that none of us--including Rush himself, and his doctors--will ever conclusively know just how high the cost was for his addiction.

Tell me where I am wrong.

I didn't say you were wrong I said you didn't know anything about it.

Let's all admit it, Rush was breaking some law.

What law has he been charged with breaking? Name it!

If he wasn't he wouldn't have gone into rehab twice.

He went into rehab because he was addicted to Rx painkillers. To my memory it wasn't twice but once and he has been off of them since. If it was twice perhaps you can provide some documentation.

Don't you guys remember how much he was criticizing Clinton for not releasing his medical records, but when it came to his medical records, he used Roy Black to do his best to keep them out of the prosecutors hands.

Now there you are completely wrong. The prosecutor obtained Rush's medical records by illegally raiding his doctor's office. What Rush did, through his lawyer of course, was fight the prosecutor to keep him from making them public. Unfortunately some of his records were leaked by the DAs office which is against FL law. Something that doesn't cover Presidents in DC.

I know some will argue that Clinton was the president, and Rush is a entertainer, but you can't have it both ways.

You are the one bringing that up and it's moronic. The President holds public office and lives in DC not FL and is not covered by FL law. Up until Clinton Presidents release their medical records to give the public confidence in their health.

My guess, and I can be wrong, I feel that Rush just has an addiction and does not have any back problems as he claims.

Of course not. His doctor and his doctor's partners in practice just handed out pain killers to a high visibility celebrity because he wanted them and the DA, who raided the doctors office for Rush's records (instead of the usual procedure of requesting them) didn't happen to think of charging those doctors for handing out addictive Rx pills for kicks. That makes sense. /sarcasm

I don't play golf, but I can imagine that playing golf involves allot of back movement.

Wow, you're a genius. Golf requires movement. Call A & E, you've got a major documentary there.

If I am not mistaken Rush plays allot of golf.

Where'd you get that idea? Did you listen to his show once?

If all of these charges are phony then how come Rush has not sued the National Enquirer and his former house keepers who made these allegations.

Apart from being a little busy with rehab, his show and fighting a politically motivated prosecutor who leaked his medical records and couldn't come up with a charge after holding them for over two years maybe he just didn't feel like it. If his maid had something substantial to testify to why wasn't he charged? Buying drugs from her would have been a lot bigger deal than the never-charged "doctor shopping."

I will be the first to apologize if someone can give meexact details to counter my assumptions.

At least you called them assumptions.

Thanks. And while I'm at it....I think I'll express my views to Fox about how they jump from one major interview/news story (like the UN meeting re: Iran's latest threat)...to trivial bs like the Duke story. I can't count how many times they've interrupted someone right in the middle of an interview of national importance...only to report on a 'Fox News Alert' re: something stupid or something that had already been reported on to death. They did this dozens of times during the Natalie Holloway media blitz. (aaaaargh!) I got so frustrated, I stopped watching Fox News.

Anyhoo....thanks again.

Michael Savage was in full throttle gloating when this erroneous story broke. I didn't stick around to see how he handled the corrections, if he handled them at all.

"Yea you should have heard Savage when the news broke...he was practically foaming at the mouth slamming Rush...it made me sick......."

Savage is a travesty. It embarrasses me to hear him called a conservative. He is a vile and nasty person with severe personality defects, not least of which is five flavors of self-loathing. I would much rather be stuck on a desert isle with Limbaugh. Not only would it be a whole hell of a lot more entertaining, but you wouldn't have to inventory your coconuts every morning (okay, your oxycontins maybe), and you probably wouldn't hurl yourself screaming from a cliff after five days of listening to him rant and bloviate, and you wouldn't have to worry about Rush going all brokeback on you...

I'd better stop now.

This was my take on Greta's show that I posted on another thread right after watching it.

"I just watched the first few minutes of "On The Record w/Greta VanSusteren." She had her panel of "experts" on, three lawyers and an ex-DC cop I think they are. I used to have a little respect for these guys. Every single one took the hard-left line that Rush got away with something because he's rich...and white. The lawyers all came down with amnesia that only seemed to affect their legal educations and the black ex-cop totally backed the race-card. Pathetic partisan leftists to a man.

To Greta's credit she argued as best she could about the facts and the law, and seemed incredulous at her panel's positions, but they cowed her in the end. The all looked sheepish but held fast to their "rich-guy's law," "white-guy's law.""

Using "allot" to mean "a lot" is a sure sign of a mental midget.

The above explains much about your post.
