I saw the movie and I was amazed at how the air traffic controllers mocked the one co-worker that was monitoring some 2 or 3 of the highjacked airplanes.

"Ha Ha, HiJacking - we haven't had one of those in 20 years"

"We haven't seen a highjacking since like 1991."

All I have to say is these guys are morons - and they were old - adults.

I recall when these happened and at the time I had not even flown once in my life, I was a kid.

Now, I must say that the last 2 (1 not being a complete highjacking) motivated the 9/11 Suicide Bombers.

I can bet that Osama Bin Laden used the EgyptAir_Flight_990 and the Indian_Airlines_Flight_814 as success stories.

That said, I also think that not all the highjackers on 9/11 knew that they would die.

Bin Laden would not risk having 20 people know that they would be on a mass sucide mission. He knows that criminals crack and rat, even his own muslims, so he only shared it with the 4 murderous pilots.

The other terrorist, I'm sure, were told that these highjackings would be as successful as the Indian_Airlines_Flight_814 where the terrorists escaped in vehicles provided them.

The movie overall was great.

Bin Laden admitted as much (that not all knew they were on 'martyrdom missions') in that taped interview that got out.
