I have no problem offering amnesty to every illegal immigrant currently in the country - as long as Congress also immediately starts construction of a border fence.

'every' might be a bit much, but I agree. It seems to be more and more coming to some kind of compromise with stepped up security plus amnesty for some portion of current illegals. Those advocating mass deportations are living in a fantasy land, assuming by 'mass' they mean millions. The bottom line issue is to what degree illegal immigrants are willing to adapt to US values (assimilate) and how much will they be just another grievance group out for what they can squeeze from the rest of the people paying taxes here.

The recent (and coming) demonstrations should have answered that one. Even as illegal invaders they are demanding rights, in spanish, while waiving the flag of a foreign country.
