Immediately after 9/11, my son and I both volunteered for the military. The army rejected my re-enlistment because of my age. I still think that our leaders should LEAD and not SEND or forces to war. If I vote for military action as a congressman, then I will demand permission to jump in with the 82d one more time, or ride in the lead Humvee. Anything LESS is cowardice.
I do have an attitude about this war because of the way it has been conducted. Those suspected WMD sites should have been smoking holes in the ground 2 minutes after MR. Blix and his inspection teams were turned away. This is the missed opportunity, passed up by both Democrat and Republican administrations.
The only way to win is to destroy an enemy's ability or will to fight. Make it so terrible that it becomes something to be avoided at all costs. History has shown us that half-assed measures don't work.
Unless you have been seated at a Thanksgiving dinner table, looking across at an empty place setting, wondering if your child is dead or alive, you will never know how I feel about this war.
If I could have my way, I would organize a division of tired old veterans to drop in on terrorist supporting countries and show them what terror realy is like. There are plenty who would jump at the chance.
See my web site for my thoughts on war.

I would hope you have the courage to post something that resembles an apology.
