"Clamoring" for it is one thing. Doing it is another. It's the U.S. Government, under the control of the President and Congress and the Military who would do it -- not the masses in the streets hollaring for it. It won't happen.

Exactly. You will hear the usual garbage like "measured response" or "contain colateral damage" or something like
"are we sure it was state sponsored?"
