Maybe it's because by simply existing, everybody around them one-ups them because they're vermin?
I'm talking about Arab-Americans here. It's like Napoleon Complex spread out across an entire culture. It's nowhere near as big a problem with second- and third-generation Arabs, but the ones who just came over are jerks.
