They also may be looking for a "connecting event" in the Middle East. In other words, this sort of thing may be sprung on the U.S. at the same time that several countries invade Israel. It might be designed to keep the "enemy" (in their eyes) busy at home, while they do the "elimination of Israel" thing that they are so intent on doing.

The problem with that thinking is, they couldn't wait for the "best" time because the longer they wait they more likely it they would be caught or the operation compromised in some fashion.
If they had them, they would HAVE to use them straight away.

Unfortunately, we will never see such a demonstration of power. Just as one shark generally won't eat another (out of professional courtesy), one group of anti-Americans won't prey on another group of anti-Americans.
