Every state is going to find itself in the same boat. This notion that only border states suffer from illegal immigration is a myth. The problem has spread throughout the country. Our politicians would like to make it worse through "reforms" that would aggravate rather than address the crisis we're now facing.

"Our polititians would like to make it worse through "reforms"that aggravate rather than address the crisis."Agree.Just imagine(one example)if the economy experiences a recession, and the "jobs Americans won't do"evaporate? What will these now unemployed illegals do?Move back to Mexico?Hardly. They and their dependants will require even more assistance.Any politico who can't(or refuses to)see the potential problem is either brain dead, into serious denial,or wants to see Ca implode.Simple economics.

Every state is being hit by illegal immigration, but some will be hit harder than others.

People who recognize the anarchy that illegal immigration is leading to will leave the hardest-hit states like California to find ones not in as severe a state of decay.

That will bolster the pro-borders sentiment in the states receiving those newcomers while it will hollow out the heavily impacted states of taxpayers and non-leftists.

This will result in a snowball effect where some states will accelerate on the road to oblivion while others will decelerate.

Eventually, you will wind up with "failed states" and "saved states". The failed states will probably eventually be expelled from the United States by whatever rump state remnant of the former United States remains.
