As I indicated, Allen will be in for a fairly tough race against Jim Webb, a legitimate Vietnam war hero (unlike Kerry) and former Secretary of the Navy under Reagan. Webb is a Naval Academy graduate and relatively conservative compared to most Democrats. He favors disengagement from Iraq.
Allen, as the incumbent and former governor, has the edge, but it won't be a walk in the park. He could be bloodied even if he wins. A lot will depend on turnout. Allen is raising lots of money, including some contributions from me.

A lot will depend on turnout. Check out the "Gone Shadding with George Allen" thread in the GOP forum. The contrast that reception with the fact that Jim Webb had about 50 supporters at his announcment in Richmond.
You're right, it'll be a race. But Allen will prevail.

Webb is a phony opportunist, he'll be lucky to hold Allen under 60%.
