I thought Elvis did it.
"Brass Target".
If there is anyway the dems can blame this on Bush, they will.
Interesting - there was also an old rumor out there that the German insurgency got to him.
ping
Maybe Prescott Bush.
"Interesting - there was also an old rumor out there that the German insurgency got to him."
A common Russin ploy - blame it on the fascists.
Go to the video tape.
Well what with the Bush's being closet Nazis during WWII it shouldn't be hard
/end mindless liberal drivel logic simulation
In his "Future Histories", science fiction writer Robert Heinlein had Patton serving two terms as president in the 1950's.
"In another brush with destiny, Mr. Skubik was informed by the Ukrainian underground of a Soviet assassination plot against Gen. George Patton. After his reports on the plot were dismissed, Gen. Patton was killed in an accident involving his staff car and a military truck. Although part of Gen. Patton's security detail, Mr. Skubik was refused permission to investigate the crash. Mr. Skubik's Ukrainian underground contact, Stepan Bandera, was himself assassinated by the KGB in 1959."
Truman would have "relieved" him just as he did Macarthur.
Ya got it wrong..it wud W.
Conspiracy? Or sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar (Freud).
Patton hated the Russians far more than he hated Germans, and perhaps dreamed of rearming and unleashing the latter against the USSR. Many in America also wanted us to stand back and just let the Nazis and Communists claw each other to death.
The sedan was not smashed to bits (photo). Restored, it reposes in the Patton Museum. I looked underneath it in 1977 and saw that the frame was bent, but nothing more. Gen. Patton was not only the only fatality, but the only one in the car even injured. A very finely tuned assassination, yes? The German Insurgency would have used some kind of what's now called an IED.
Eisenhower relieved Patton not because he was a loose cannon, but because of his public remarks, thought injurious to the Four Power alliance (which the Soviets abrogated anyway).
Gen Patton was a near-perfect, aggressive battlefield commander. That doesn't translate well to any other walk of life. Lost accident report? Welcome to the bureaucracy, circa 1945.
Let him rest in peace, in his soldier's grave.
Regardless of the manner of his demise, he was an amazing man, the consumate War General and an American Hero of the first order. My favorite photo of him is the one of him pissing in the Rhine. I am glad he was not infected by the political bug, as he was better for it.
Hand salute, ready two!
I thought it was a plot. Patton's driver was a former Arab taxi driver and if one has ever ridden in a car with an Arabic driver one would understand the danger.
I did it with my Time Machine. I wanted George C. Scott to be able to portray Patton as he was when he was still in his prime. I killed JFK, too, but the Cigarette Smoking Man kept taking the credit.
