'Homophobia' is not a real phobia. Those more familiar with the history of the APA can perhaps state this better than I.

Tolerance of a behavior sometimes requires that there be agreement that it isn't really THAT harmful. We could say that a man who believes that he is truly a woman (gender dysphoria) isn't harming anyone by going to the level of surgery to look more like a female. Let me say that this is akin to an oncologist reassuring their patient that those bad test results originated from differently oriented alveoli and prescribing two packs of Marlboros a day for life.

Some behaviors are more harmful than others. Those who would claim that homosexuality is normal or relatively harm-free--excepting all of this nonsense about persecution and stigma--bear the burden of proof here.
