I'm old enough to remember the gas lines back in the '70s.
Let's see what the summer brings.
Memories...
Gasl were not caused by expensive oil. They were caused by a govt allocation program and infact one can argue that even though oil prices went up in the 1970s, they didnt go up enough if demand > supply
Remember "odd/even"? That drove my mom and dad nuts.
As do I...And they were storing gas anyplace they could stick it...There was no shortage...
I am watching' the gas prices everyday driving to and from work, and I kid you not, for the passed three days gas prices went up at an average of 3-5 cents a day nice and steady!
Saturday June 22nd ARCO at $2.97/ UNOCAL at $2.98; today ARCO at $3.17/ UNOCAL at $3.19.
Now can anybody lecture me what happened between June 22nd and June 25th? We did not have any Hurricanes in the Gulf, the Saudis are in one piece, so what is the reason for jacking up the prices? Ahhh the vacation time is coming, we have to add the ethanol, perform a smell test, geeez Charlie forgot to turn the MTSB spigot on, therefore let's stick it to them, huh!
I am asking myself, what exactly has had happened since 04/25/05 to justify the oil prices to jump almost $1.30 a gallon! I am not aware of any major interruption of oil supply anywhere, at least we were not told by the media.
You know what the summer will bring?...$4 Gallon of fuel, that's what will bring.
As am I.
Which brings to mind a question:
What happened to the "Oil Shortage"?
You know...all the brouhaha about how we were running out of oil?
Do you suppose that the dirty little secret of the oil companies is that crude oil is a renewable resource? Carbon, pressure and time create diamonds and the world doesn't seem to run out of those.
Organic matter, pressure and time creates oil. Do you suppose that the vast scientific research resources available to these oil companies has discovered something that they'd just rather not have everyone know? It would destroy their margins.
Just speculatin'.
so am i. those are not fine memories.
