Neil Youngs new album, Living with War, is an incendiary, moving, totally American document of peaceful protest that is going to make a lot of people crazy one way or another.
And theres no doubt that the centerpiece of the album, a song called Lets Impeach The President, performed as a melodic, rocking, campfire ode will be what causes the most controversy.
{snip}
Here, for the first time, the lyrics to Neil Youngs Lets Impeach the President:
Lets impeach the president for lying
And leading our country into war
Abusing all the power that we gave him
And shipping all our money out the door
Hes the man who hired all the criminals
The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors
And bend the facts to fit with their new stories
Of why we have to send our men to war

I can't believe I am the first to quote the obvious lyrical rebuttal:
"and I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around, anyhow"

Neil sucks. He used to rock until his communist politics overshadowed his music. I still have a Crazy Horse tape. Maybe I should burn it on May Day.

Neil Neil Neil, what happened? (Flight 93) "Let's Roll" Good question. And this is beyond preposterous:
What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees
Would New Orleans have been safer that way
Sheltered by our governments protection
Or was someone just not home that day?
How can he blame the President or FEMA for the
malfeasance of Louisiana's Governor and New Orleans' Mayor?
Did he not see the mayor had buses lined up row by row,
drowning, because he refused to say "Let's Roll"?
Does he forget the Governor had the Guard at their barracks,
waiting, because she refused to tell them "Let's Roll"?

The Bellamy Brothers once wrote a song about (my take on it) this falsetto whiner who writes embarrasingly inept lyrics:
He's an old hippie and he don't know what to do
Should he hang on to the old
Should he grab on to the new
He's an old hippie...his new life is just a bust
He ain't trying to change nobody
He's just trying real hard to adjust

I used to like Neil. I have even defended him here on FR.
Now, I just think he's a tool.

I actually think that his friends in the music business wouldn't have anything to do with him after he wrote that "right wing" song, "Let's Roll".
The only way he could EARN his way back into the good graces of the liberals and the Geffin crowd was to put out this "Impeach The President" song and get his chit back into the music scene.

Is he still a canadian citizen?
I saw him a few times in the early 70's. A very talented musician at the time. I, on the other hand, though bereft of musical talent, still have my brain and cognitive reasoning ability. Which puts me way ahead of old Neil.

Does anyone listen to Neil Young's music? His voice makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Chris Kristopherson is a better singer and his voice makes dogs fight.

A rock musician with leftist political leanings......how unusual, how daring, how totally cutting edge. Sort of like a donut with a hole in the middle.
