I have more faith in Americans than you do. I don't think they'll "sit this out".---

Remember Tom Foley, Speaker of the House? His district dumped him for supporting the assault gun ban. Republicans don't hold power by a big margin and there are enough folks angry about this illegals issue to cause serious harm.

Given the situation, why not respond to the people's overwhelming preference for tough action? Asking that the laws be enforced doesn't seem like much.

Uhm, fwiw, I am in Tom Foley's district and was part of the dumping. With all due respect it was much more complicated than the assault gun ban, although that was a part of it.

Nothing in politics comes down to a single issue. And Foley's dumping most certainly did not.

Tell, me, in explicit detail, how the president is supposed to make the LOCAL governments who forbid teachers, social workers, doctors, nurses, firefighters, the police, etc. from calling in the INS/ICE, when they know of an illegal alien follow the letter of the law, when their laws are something different? And what about the communities and towns and cities who have made themselves "sanctuaries" for illegals?

Now, please remember what the powers of the president REALLY are, and don't go off into flights of fancy, on me, when replying to my queries.
