"What's the point?"
When I was leaving, they were trying to find a balance between not wanting to let posters address each other and posters leaving.
For a short time they ok'd responding to another poster, but not by name. You could address their post number. hehe. Then they evidently didn't like that either, so they said that you couldn't address another post, but that you should say something like, "I agree with the poster above", then state your ideas.
I'm not sure what the point was. I think they might have been afraid that a free-for-all would eat up their bandwidth.
I answered another poster as to the whereabouts of an absent poster, and was banned. Have been happy as a clam here. Thanks, JRob!
Yep, the activism potential is definitely stifled there compared to FR.
I was an L-dotter before a Freeper and hardly ever check Lucianne unless FR is having a slow day.
They have very stringent rules and much slower moving news cycles and posts.
FR is the best internet site I have ever found and I am addicted for life.
THAT IS IF John McLame doesn't have his way in shutting us up and stifling free speech of course.
Yep, FR has articles posted as soon as they are available. Thanks to Jim and all the article posters. From what I've seen, L. seems to be about two to three days behind on a lot of articles. DU is usually a week behind. Then there are the scoops that originate on FR. I'll never forget the President in Baghdad Thanksgiving thread. Because of a FReeper on the scene, we knew it before the anyone in the world other than those involved. That's pretty cool.
Jersey Devil? I've heard of that one out here in Wisconsin. My daughter attended the Tom Brown Jr.'s Tracker School and brought back quite a few stories.
And, yes, FR does get the jump on stories. Since being booted from Ldot, I've visited once in a while, but there is seldom anything there that hasn't already been well covered here!
Lucianne has some really good people posting who ferret out interesting articles. I follow their site and pick the best ones and post many of them over here. So we don't miss much but they really deserve credit for finding a lot of interesting things that might otherwise be missed here.
I was banned too. My crime was that I called Murtha a FUBAJAR
but he is. or was. But i miss it over there. I know they are just so frou frou, but I miss it. They'll have an open thread soon and I won't be there and it just chokes me up.
Miz Luci was going to let me back on, so someone told me, but one of her staff said NO WAY and I didn't get back on.
I don't know what happened there, it's just what i was told.
The mods are so nice here, they won't even ban her:

It's unanimous then, we all see the same faults in the "others" especially Lucianne. This is all the more reason I am thankful for FR.
As you had provided the example of Bush on Thanksgiving, I also love to go back and read the Dan Rather is busted thread.
Many savvy people who are the first on the scene when the "drive by media" hits make this more than a website.
Jim has created a community and it's nice to feel welcome in the cold world of cyberspace.
This is a nice community - we encourage each other, challenge each other, pray for each other, give advice (whether or not it is requested!) - much like a very extended family! :-) I have no bitterness toward Lucianne - I just like it here better!
Some of us recall Lucianne posting here in the earlier days before .com.
You are exactly right in your praise of Lucianne.com. That site is a gold mine of columns and articles I might otherwise miss, so I seldom miss checking in with her. I LOVE her "must reads" list with clever quips.
I always hate it when we eat our own....FR and Lucianne.com are on the same side in this war, and she's one of the good guys, a warrior.
LOL!
Same here. Twice. Second time was just today.
I hate to admit it but you're rigt on that one.
I got banned from over there too...I never found out why.
And she used to be here too...so there it is.
She joined us at the 1st FreeRepublic March for Freedom on the Mall in Washington, DC, back in October, 1998.
...along with Ann Coulter, Alan Keyes, Bob Barr...and Tommy Dale...who headed the White House travel bureau.
Now...those were the days!
This is the kind of connection that Drudge likes to talk about, the incestuous connections between people in the MSM and the Democratic Party/leftist organizations.
And it would be really nice if people COULD ACTUALLY READ AND COMMENT ON THE ARTICLE instead of mindlessly chatting about their experiences at Lucianne.com or demonstrating that they don't know how to read a friggin' English sentence.
This place is really being taken over by idiots.
