I have on more then one occasion heard him state positions that sounded to me more to do with his political opinions then the law. Perhaps I am being unfair and will keep an open mind. My impression from my last few times I have seen him was that he was a Judaical activist. From your post I see my opinion is some what mistaken. My apologies for misjudging him.

I've been carefully sizing him up for his POV. As most 'legal types' do, he often highlights (make that, boasts about) his own impartiality and judicial temperament (whatever that means) by deferring to what the constitution says.
