I didn't know that. I remember my history classes giving that as an example and it was in the context of the Founding Fathers so I thought one of them coined the term. Nevertheless, thanks for info.

I saw clips on AOL..I was tearing up then. I am going to see it either Friday or Saturday. I know I will be tearing up...and getting angry again at the damn terrorists and those in Washington who support the terrorists.

It's the same way on AOL and Yahoo message boards dealing with "United 93". Freaking pathetic and very scary. Scary in that people actually believe not in the truth of what happened on 9/11. We were attacked by Muslims who where part of a group that wants America destroyed, ever now after 4 yrs.
Wake up America..we are still being attacked and we are weakening every day...

First, thank you for your service! My husband was a Navy Corpsman, serving with the Marines in Saudi and Kuwait, in Desert Storm.
This reminds me of the freaks who think the Holocaust was fake as well. Reading those other message boards is very scary. Also disturbing is the reaction from some people when I tell them I will be seeing this movie, or asking if they are going to see it--"Why?"..."Why do you want to see that?"
It may be a painful reminder, but one which we all need to be reminded of. Someone earlier on posted GW should show this at his State of the Union Address next January.

I snapped during Blawk Hawk Down in the way United States sends its troops into wars. If we go into a battle/war then it should be no holds barred. When we fight it should be total hell for our enemy. Air strike the living shit out of them. Use bombs, rockets, missiles, artillery, and whatever else we can use. When the objective is achieved get the hell out I agree with you, however, that will never happen---we are so worried about harming innocents, or accidentally hitting a mosque and offending people.

Tell your husband hi for me :) Hope he is doing well...
I will go alone to "United 93" for I know that I will have tears.
It's sad that fellow Americans feel so divided on this film, when it's not out in public yet.
United we stand? Hardly.
Even after 4 yrs.

It's sad that fellow Americans feel so divided on this film, when it's not out in public yet. Ordinary dems might be complaining about it but I am seeing some well-known lib critics gushing over it. Ebert and Roeper for example give it "Two Thumbs Up." United 93 may do as well as The Passion here in the states.

Yes, I know. One day the lion will lay down with the lamb, and there won't be any more tears.

Nothing you don't see everyday at various kooksites, such as LibertyForum. Isn't it AMAZING?? We watched it live on TV, Bin Laden confessed, the hijackers left a paper trail, they were ID'd on the planes by passengers, etc., etc., etc. YET...there are the loonies who don't believe it.

Yeah, I think Friedman has it right. The DVD will do very well.I plan on both. I think it's important to support good movies or they won't be made. Those who make a movie like this are taking a tremendous risk and should be rewarded. One of the best rewards is to have an undeniable boxoffice hit.

I am sadly all too aware of the kook sites out there with their sick conspiracy theories. My surprise (and why should I be surprised? I am much too hopeful) is that they would essentially commandeer a site that is so obviously there to pay tribute to our 9-11 heroes, victims, and loved ones.
I guess I just hoped that common decency would keep the raving lunatics away from a site like that. That was my first mistake, well that, and assuming that any of them had any measure of decency to begin with.
Unfortunately, whoever constructed the message board opened it up for invasion of the pod people when they entitled one of the forums "Alternate theories of what happened ON Flight 93" meaning probably, "How do you think the passengers planned their attack on the terrorists, did they get in the cockpit?" etc. That really was an invitation to the people who buy Reynolds Wrap in bulk to splay their tentacles all over it. With no moderators, it's basically wading through toxic sewage.
It wasn't enough for them to stay in that "Alternate Theories" forum, either. They had to ooze their way into the "Movie" (they have fliers they are going to distribute outside theatres-oh boy)and the "Tribute" forums, where victims family members have posted. I would ban them from those two forums (they can take over the other one as they have been doing) in a heartbeat. Disgusting sludge monkeys.

Well this post may be a bit late but I just finally watched United 93 on DVD. I thought it was very well done and probably as accurate as could be. There were no political overtones whatsoever that I could find. And yes, I did tear up but I never needed to be reminded of what we are dealing with, I never forgot.
