"Using data from the Census Bureau's current population survey, Steven Camarota, director of research at the Center for Immigration Studies, an advocacy group in Washington that favors more limits on immigration, estimated that 3.8 million households headed by illegal immigrants generated $6.4 billion in Social Security taxes in 2002." -- Source

How could an illegal alien pay into SS when you have to be a citizen or legally authorized alien to do so? ( How do I replace a lost Social Security card?)

There are many ways to do it.

If they're on the payroll, they're paying in.

Usually, they're on the payroll--using someone else's Social Security number.

Every so often the SSA will send the employer a notice saying, these names and numbers don't match up. The employer goes to the employee and says that there's a discrepancy. The illegal responds, "Oh, that's the wrong number. I must have written it down wrong. And I don't really go by that name any more." And they produce another card with another number. And the idiot employer lets them get away with it!

Once in a while, the illegal just ups and leaves, and goes to a new employer and starts all over.

It takes the SSA so long to catch up with these frauds, they can keep doing it indefinitely.

You lie on job applications and illegally steal the identity of an American citizen in violation of our identity theft and fraud laws.

How do you do anything when your very presence is illegal? Carrying forth such borderless family values as: identity theft, social security fraud, wire fraud, etc. Illegally, of course. What's breaking one more law when you've already broken so many?

I read the other day that a kids SS number was checked and there were over 100 instances of his number being used across the USA.

Out of curiosity, I would like to see a cost comparison between what illegal’s pay in via SS and payroll tax and what they take out via Medicaid, welfare, increase public spending on schools, incarceration in jail, etc, etc.

Still, if illegal’s, as a group, bring in $1.25 for each dollar spent on them, I still say depart the bunch. Doesn't matter if they come from Latin America, Asia, Europe, or Africa, if you don't obey the law to get here, get out!
