That's a fairly broad statement. Ultimately, doesn't the US economy depend strongly on consumer confidence? If enough folks in the US say "we won't accept any US currency for transactions anymore", that's a big step.

What would confidence level be if you entire family was destroyed in LA, NY Chicago, etc? Would you be ready to go buy those big ticket items?
