"'jobs Americans won't do'"

That phrase pisses me off to no end every time I hear a politician say it. It seems to imply that American workers are lazy and feel they are too good for hard work. I'm sure some Americans are like that, but as a country it's not the case.

The fact is, there are jobs 'Americans won't do' for near slave wages.

I've got a local contractor that used to be one of the biggest roofing contractors in Colorado Springs. I asked him why he got out of the busniness. He gave me a short reply. The Mexicans contractors with their cheap illegals drove the price down to the point it was no longer worth the headaches and risk.

I guess this is just another job Americans won't do.

Makes me want to hurl.

Americans can't afford to live on a $1000 a month salary and pay $1500 a month for living expenses. But then, we are not allowed to collect welfare, free housing, free medical, etc. while working for peanuts either. Politicians like to cover this up by insulting American work ethics.

A corollary to "jobs Americans won't do" is the fact that many illegals are doing jobs American could and would do but can't because they are filled by illegal immigrants!
