Thanks for your thoughts. I know my friend was in Dahab but not sure of hotel or hostel she was staying at. I'm SMSing anyone who might know now. What a tragedy.

I lived for one year in Cairo 1999-2000 studying at an American university there. It felt safe but this shows you never know. I was travelling back to the area with my own daughter back in 2004 and barely missed the Dahab bombing. I heard the ambulances going by my hotel in Eilat.

I have been taking my trips to Prague ever since then.
