...we are a nation of immigrants, ...

This is a falsehood. We are a nation of sons and daughters, grandsons and granddaughters and great grandsons and great granddaughters of immigrants as well as others who are unrelated to immigrants at all. (Unless you consider the Indians immigrants because their ancestors crossed the Bering land bridge 20 - 40 thousand years ago.)

So, the President's idea of a comeback tour to get his poll numbers up is to thump his immigration plan?

President Bush gets absolutely no credit from Hispanics for taking a soft line on the illegal aliens issue, and he clearly antagonizes much of his his base at the same time.

What does that mean? I think it means that he has taken the lax border/guest worker line because he personally and sincerely believes in it, not because there is political advantage in it. That shouldn't be a startling revelation; he's been that way virtually across the board since he was first inaugurated.

janetgreen certainly lashed out at President Bush, and its not a matter of 'perception.'

She said he was at the bottom of the barrel with Jimmy Carter and LBJ.

I'm struggling how you can 'perceive' that any other way but really nasty.

I understand it's important to enforce our border. And we are.

False.

My money is on President Bush..

Anyone who bets against the preservation of our republic, should lose every dime. Sorry to wish that on you but you have only your own foolishness to blame.

Keep trying to make Bush look bad.

You're right. Bush can do that all by himself.

1997 workplace immigration arrests - 17,000.
2004 workplace immigration arrests 159.

Not a typo. 159 arrests. Nationwide.

Anyone know how many lightning strikes on people there were in 2004? How does getting caught working illegally under Bush compare to the odds of getting hit by lightning?

Howlin, I was just thinking about that on that incredible thread about Mary McCarthy over the weekend. Not a one of these folks apparently was interested in the CIA leak and the treason of the leftists.

It DOES make you curious, doesn't it?

Someone might note just as suspiciously that you and Howlin were all over the McCarthy scandal over the weekend while defending illegal aliens and pushing for lax borders. So what?
