Both parties are massive spending parties. The Pubs aren't any different than the Dems on the spending front anymore.
So what are the differences?
Obviously, the social issues, but on the spending front the difference is..... the Dems will raise taxes and spend, the Pubs just spend without raising taxes.
So what does a Conservative to do? Vote Pub knowing that the over spending is going to kill us eventually? The American people get hooked on hand outs and when the Dems give them the Pubs have always had a tough go at it getting people weened off it, but when the Pubs are giving it, who's going to ween the takers now? It will be like passing a kidney stone for the Pubs to cut the pork out. After all.... they gave it.
However, by voting Pub, we won't get the tax increases and.... maybe we don't get all the social issues resolved, but at least we don't get the abortion lunatics and gay marriage nut jobs running the show.
By sitting out we get our taxes raised AND lose big time on the social issues, but we all know the American people won't put up with that forever and will put the Pubs back in power eventually, if not for those two reasons alone. Then, the Pubs will be gun shy to ignore conservative spending practices again. The Dems may even seal their fate within two years by trying to impeach President Bush. I don't think that would go well for the Dems at all.
I'm going to vote Pub this November. I think it's better than letting Palosi run the show for sure, but I know they're taking us to a crash landing with their spending. Eventually, were gonna pay the piper one way or another.
Kennedy said this morning that if they get power back...they will take back all of the tax cuts...
And one of his pet projects besides socialized medicine...is that any child that graduates high school SHOULD receive an expenses paid college education.
Yeah...there is NO difference in the parties.../sarc
That's not actually true if the economy keeps growing. As a percentage of GDP, neither the deficit nor the national debt are all that large in comparison to times past.
Not that I am in favor of the Republican's spendthrift ways, not at all, but it needs to be put in perspective. The doom and gloom is unwarrented.
