If you are among those who do think so, you are delusional. Seek help!
Quit sitting in denial about the state of affairs in the Republican party. If the democrats were spending like this cast of pubs you would be in the streets screaming.
Republicans in Congress have been reduced to the argument that they are the lesser of two evils. All the wonderful promises they made in 1994 in order to gain control of Congress have been pissed away. Even if the Democrats remain worse, Joe Scarborough makes the telling point that they're no longer that much worse. Which is a devastating commentary on just how bad the Republicans have become.
If you keep re-electing Republican majorities regardless of what depths they fall to, regardless of how much wasteful spending they engage in, regardless of how high they run up the deficit, regardless of what new entitlements they approve, regardless of how many "Bridges to Nowhere" they build, regardless of how they trample on our freedom of speech, etc., etc., then don't be surprised if they continue in that mode. After all, it works to get them re-elected, which is all that really matters to most of them.
As Benjamin Franklin said, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."
If the Democrats were so bad, why doesn't the leader of the R's feel the same way as you do about them? Would you have Clinton over to have a beer? sleep at your fathers house? go boating with him? Would you go to the opening of his library and talk about him like a pal?
C'mon, they have you by the short hairs, telling you exactly what they want you to hear, so you will vote the way they want. The other side does the exact same thing. Every few years, they will throw a bone to the public, but over all, they do what the agenda calls for. That agenda differs only in speed of implementation, and the words attached to the agenda. GW will give us socialized medicine, he pushes it, while talking against it. That is the way it works in DC, talk one way, push the agenda the other. If you want to continue buying this bill of goods, go ahead. I for one, will opt out and support anybody for office, that currently is non-incumbent. If more people did this, we would gain control of the process, instead of being controlled.
