If the MSM did some reporting, instead of regurgitating, they would probably find some Clinton career-people at the bottom of this mess also. If civil service provisions prevent the prez from firing them, the least he can do is move them off to do something like "demographic studies for the 23rd century" or something - they don't need to be running these departments.

"One question why would our govt agencies do this?"

Maybe because this way the government can collect taxes on these bogus SS numbers and the money never has to be paid back to them.

“If the government bothered to look, it could find abundant evidence of illegal aliens gaming our system and the unscrupulous employers who are aiding and abetting them,” said Rep. J.D. Hayworth, R-Ariz.

Because the IRS, the State Dept and the CIA do not work for America and Americans.
They report to the Clintons and their minions. Always have. Always will.

Illegals mean so much to so many

To the teacher's unions, their children are a form of job security. Ditto public service employees. To the Demonrat Party, they're the next big voter bloc to be co-opted. To advocacy professionals, they represent lucrative lifetime careers. To the Catholic church, they're replacements for all of the traditional Americans who have gone secular or otherwise left the church. I almost forgot business and its profits-at-any-cost mentality.

Then there are us little people who're worried about the future of our country and culture. Guess we don't count.

From the article:
"To work lawfully in the United States, individuals must have valid Social Security numbers or authorization from the Department of Homeland Security. But the law doesn't require companies to verify that workers give them names and numbers that match Social Security records.
So most companies don't check. "

Add to this the fact that companies, per Social security admin: may NOT check the numbers until AFTER they have hired the person. If the number comes back as incorrect, they may NOT fire them, they should first inform the employee that they may have made an error on the number, and give them a chance to give you a new number.
Yup....the SSA makes it really simple to hire someone legally.

Why does not Bush declare an executive order that the agencies must cooperate with each other. I guess this makes to much sense.

The potential crimes are so obvious that the failure to provide such information to investigators raises questions about Washington's determination to end the widespread hiring of illegal immigrants at cut-rate pay.

We need a website that lists by state and city firms that use illegal immigrants to that they can be avoided. If we don't leak some of the air out of the balloon that is the underground economy, it's going to burst.
