You won't get that choice- of whether or not a person running, supports amnesty or not.

Right now, the borders need to be closed. That is the only thing that will be dealt with right now. The decision on what to do with 12 million illegal aliens will not be dealt with until later or perhaps never.

Ronald Reagan, a hero to many around here, suffered thru the same insults, the same hatred, and the threats that George Bush is going thru right now. Any President, Congressman and Senator, attempting to deal with the illegal aliens already in this county will go thru the same thing that happened to Ronald Reagan and is happening to George Bush.

Why do you think that Clinton never bothered to deal with illegal aliens? Because the debate is so heated, that the issue is too hot to touch.

I want leaders who are willing to deal with the issue. I don't want leaders that will run scared at the first site of dissent. George Bush has the courage to take the heat, that is why we elected him.

First things first, we need to get the borders closed. Whether it be a wall or 25,000 national guardsmen at the border- I will support these moves. We need to get the people that we elected to support closing the border first.

Then we need these leaders to be willing to take the heat on what to do with 12 million illegal aliens already in the county. There is no easy answer when dealing with these 12 million people. Rounding up and deporting 12 million people is nearly impossible and it certainaly will not happen before November. The decisions on what to do with these 12 million people will not be decided by November either.

Fixing this problem will take years. There will be many steps involved in fixing this problem.

Step #1- close the border!

I realize there is a theory that if something is repeated over and over long enough, people will believe it. However, the answer really is pretty easy:

Strictly enforce laws against hiring illegal aliens.
Stop giving them social services (except emergency care--after which they are deported back to their home country)
Pass a law that no one illegally in this country after a certain date (and make it soon) can EVER get a green card or legally come in the United States.

Most would self deport. Then we can clean up the rest fairly easily. BTW I agree about securing the border as well.

Who said it had to happen overnight??? Getting rid of all of them won't be easy however 10-15-20 years from now once all privelages have been squashed and once employers learn that it doesn't pay to hire illegals the problem will take care of itself.

I honestly think that attacking the people who HIRE them will do far more than even instant deportations.

No need for new legislation, if we just enforce the laws already on the books, and not on the 'poor workers only trying to make their lives better' (MSM, bleeding heart view that does contain just enough of a grain of truth to enable them to trot out the poor sucker who DOES bust butt just like my grandpa did and for the same reason) Instead, whack the 'greedy exploitative' Evil Capitalists who employ them; how much more politically correct could you be; you're not attacking some helpless immigrant but instead fining and/or imprisoning the dirtbag who underbids everyone else because they use illegal labor.
Yes, the left will find a pity angle on it soon enough, poor Juan can't get a job and has to head back to Mexico, but I know one contractor here (uselessly small sample, I know) who cannot fairly bid against his competition who all pay a LOT less to their illegal laborers,
