Yep, the good Lord gave moms a sixth sense about a lot of things. It comes as an accessory with the child.

Interesting about the rubella; I think that might be a shot Morgan has to get before 7th grade, along with hepatitis. My worry about the chicken pox shot is that it might "run out" when girls get to childbearing age; it's very dangerous for a pregnant woman to be exposed to.

That is what I experienced slight swelling of the glands in the face and felt a bit yucky. As my symptoms were so mild that did not even bother to do blood tests (they did not seem to do them as much 40 years ago) so I never really know if I had it or not.

As it is so rare nowadays in our area I have never bothered to check out if I am immune or not.

I can't imagine you "freaking out"! I can tell by talking to my kids, too. Isn't it amazing, the "powers" you get as a mom?

It can cause tonsillitis, but they are not necessarily the same thing. You can have infected tonsils and it is not always caused by the Strep germ. Strep is the worst of the worst and can cause very high fevers. It is the one germ that I will catch if I get near it. Almost anything else I can throw off.

***As my tagline says, I never use the word "you" in a debate. It keeps the debate impersonal and is less likely to cause friction.***

Great thinking.

I knew that Rubella could cause abnormalities in unborn children but did not know that chicken pox was similar though.

I'm on a crusade to eliminate the personal attacks in FR debates. They are not necessary. Everyone should be able to express their opinion or belief without being called an idiot or worse.

If you had it, you're immune to it now.

I'm glad they did the blood test, so we'll know for sure. It's not really a big deal since mumps usually isn't so serious, but it's kind of scary to think how a very serious disease could spread very quickly. Morgan was at a volleyball camp two weeks ago, with about 80 girls from throughout the state (actually, I think that's probably where she was exposed.) AFter that we went to a mall. We've been to cattle shows, several church services, and school. CAn you imagine how many people that put her into contact with? Then add everyone I and the rest of the family have been around, and potentially exposed . . .

The long incubation period for mumps is one reason it spreads so far and fast. Tons of people are exposed before you know you have them.

I think in Britain we call anything that infects the tonsils tonsillitis as I have known people have similar symptoms especially young children and it be called tonsillitis.

It as quite common when I was a child but does not seem that common now and very rare with adults. Though a lot of adults just a bit older than me do not have tonsils as we had a fad in Britain in removing them almost routinely if you got what I suspect you call strep throat more than once out came the tonsils.

I was under threat from it the doc said one more bout of tonsillitus and out they come never got it again or if I did never said anything.
