I think securing the border is the key.

The other things are secondary.

While I object to people who came here illegally, while people who would contribute more to the US aren't allowed in, because they are taking the legal route, -- but I am willing to be pragmatic and legalize them, and have a guest worker program, IF we secure the borders, so they can't stream into the country illegally.

If they don't secure the borders, making a big deal about not legalizing those already here is nothing but political rhetoric, because it doesn't solve the basic problem of illegals continuing to come into the country.
