CIA officer fired after admitting leak, (Mary McCarthy named in this article)
Msnnbc.msn.com ^ | April 21, 2006 | Robert Windrem and Andrea Mitchell

Posted on 04/22/2006 8:32:31 AM PDT by Grampa Dave

The officer flunked a polygraph exam before being fired on Thursday and is now under investigation by the Justice Department, NBC has learned.

Intelligence sources tell NBC News the accused officer, Mary McCarthy, worked in the CIA's inspector general's office and had worked for the National Security Council under the Clinton and and George W. Bush administrations.

The leak pertained to stories on the CIA’s rumored secret prisons in Eastern Europe, sources told NBC. The information was allegedly provided to Dana Priest of the Washington Post, who wrote about CIA prisons in November and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize on Monday for her reporting.

Sources said the CIA believes McCarthy had more than a dozen unauthorized contacts with Priest. Information about subjects other than the prisons may have been leaked as well.

With all due respect, Bush should have cleaned the CIA of the Clintonista's from the get-go.

No due respect on this one at all. Where in the hell was the White House on getting Kerry supporter such as this one and Clintonista appointees OUT OF THE CIA and other sensitive positions??? It is now 2006 folks, and it has taken this long, along with this much trauma -- causing harm to our national security and our country's reputation, not to mention faltering opinions of our President (both inside and out of the US) before this comes to light?
By the way, I wonder what other, additional information, classified and otherwise, this mole was providing through the media and her friends? Maybe we'll never learn all of the topics that were "exposed" to outside sources in this case, but it is an example of failed management.

We could see a cat fight between the Slimes and Compost over their worthless Pulitzer's based on lies or secrets that should never be passed on.

I never expect the MSM to do anything with stories like this. They need to be used to keep whacking down any credibility the MSM has with the moderates and rats who may care.

"a pattern of conduct"

Now that is a loaded phrase....could this be the first of many more to come as the Cabal gets exposed....just speculating of course.....

By the way Iraq now officially has a government....Talabani asked Mallicki as Prime Minister to get his government going.

Sometimes it makes you wonder if Mussolini was right that the only thing reporters are good for is Decorating Lampposts? A Pulitzer for a false story!

Yesterday was not a bad stock market day for the stocks of most of the Dinosaur fishwraps with the exception of the Compost/WPO. Makes one wonder if this word had gotten out on Wall Street about the Post's Pulitzer winner involved in this mess.

(Note that in both instances where reporters disclosed secret government programs, they won Pulitzers. Penraker)

Good post but nothing new here. The NYT won a Pulitzer for publishing the Pentagon Papers in '72 -- another massive traitorous leak of classified information. That set the pattern.

Remember, the Pulitzer is an award given by ultra-liberal journalism elites (Columbia University/Columbia School of Journalism) to ultra-liberal working journalism elites. The two are virtually indistinguishable.

I was taken aback a few days ago when I saw an MSNBC news "anchor" interviewing someone critical of classified news leaks. The anchor asserted: "Isn't news what the government doesn't want us to know?" I guess that's what journalism's come to. After Vietnam and Watergate, 'journalism' no longer distinguishes between 'news' and the national interest. Most of today's journalists are functional traitors.

* All CIA employees are required to sign a secrecy agreement upon being hired stating they are prohibited from discussing classified information with anyone not cleared to receive the material.

* Before going public with her name, NBC News reached McCarthy's husband, Michael. He said he could not confirm that his wife had been fired from her career post. He declined further comment.

* Priest said she could not comment on the firing, which she said she learned about from NBC News

Nothing new in the article.

However what I found interesting was its rather pro forma tone. Almost like a boring power point presentation at some boring seminar. No breathless reporting or gotcha exuberances that we are so used to from the MSM.

GW's problem is that he doesn't like to hurt his enemies in America. He is a little too Christian in that part of his life.

Hurting your friends is not Christianity. However, the Republicans have always had this problem. The number of Republican congressional representatives and senators who support Democrat administrative staff vipers in their midst is staggering!

Mamma's point that Clinton gave many of his appointed cronies civil service status before leaving is quite true. This does not excuse Republicans who (A) hire or appoint Democrats when there are qualified Republicans available and willing. (Actually it is more a case of the Republicans allowing Democrats to continue as the "gatekeepers" for key support jobs.) (B) Continue on with Democrat appointees after winning an election. (C) Not using bureaucratic methods to stymie treasonous civil servants like this McCarthy. A posting to The Gambia might work.

The Republican country-clubbers have never learned

For my friends, everything.
For everyone else, the law."

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks to Starwise on the other thread we have some interesting data on Dana Priest's hubby, William Goodfellow.

Is this going to become a Bush Bashing thread. GW couldn't and still can't fire most GS people unless something like this happens.

The next thing this will deteriorate in a Jorge loves illegal alien thread.

It was a rat b$tch who committed these crimes not GW or even rino senators.

You and I are in agreement.

Shoot her in front of the Compost and string her body up on the nearest street light as a warning to others.

Then go after the reporter, her editor, and publisher who allowed this story to be published.

However, the MSM, which hates a strong America will be scream what you stated as a mantra, after they figure out how to do it.

Perhaps not Grampa Dave. Even the dumbest "journalist" has to have some sense of survival and until they know exactly where the law comes down on receiving confidential information, I doubt too many of them are willing to go out on a limb to protect a fellow "journalist". After all, how far out does the treason net go?
