Terri Schiavo Case Is Emerging As Factor In Race For Governor

TAMPA - The political debate over Terri Schiavo's death is emerging as an issue in the 2006 election campaign.

Attorney General Charlie Crist told an audience in West Palm Beach on Thursday that as governor, he would have stayed out of the fight between Schiavo's husband and parents about whether to keep the brain-damaged woman alive with a feeding tube.

A 15-year legal battle appeared to be over last year when Congress, President Bush and Gov. Jeb Bush pressed to intervene legislatively to keep Schiavo alive. Ultimately, the courts sided with Schiavo's husband. She died of dehydration on March 31, 2005, after her feeding tube was removed.

"I am pro-life, and I respect life," Crist, a Republican candidate for governor, said at a gathering of the nonpartisan Forum Club of the Palm Beaches. "There are some decisions that ought to be left to God and family. Had I have been governor, I would have not done the same thing" as Bush.

In an interview, Crist minimized his differences with the governor.

Crist's Republican primary opponent, Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher, stood with Gov. Bush last year in trying to pass legislation to keep the feeding tube in after courts had ordered it removed.

Charlie Crist's entitled to his opinion. I have mine, namely that the government ought to be squarely on the side of life and I don't have second thoughts about it. None whatsoever.

"There are some decisions that ought to be left to God and family."

The decision was not left to God. She had to be killed.

I've always liked Charlie.

Now I like him even more.

Where's Crist on the beating death of a 14 year old boy while in State Custody? It was his law enforcement deputies who murdered the boy. Seems to me the teen's civil rights were violated and that's Crist's dept. How do you like him now? He's beholding to anybody who will give to his campaign.

Jesse Jackson needs to protest outside of Charlie Crist's office, not Jeb's (who isn't going to do anything else for Martin Anderson's grieving family).

Crist is a fool. Jeb is protecting Crist.

How many dead people will Floridians dismiss before they see that it starts w/corruption at the top?

The Sheriff Deputies should all be under arrest and also the nurse who stood by. That's the story, not the Duke rape investigation!

Hello, Charlie Crist is protecting deputies from prosecution who beat a kid to a pulp in Florida. Do you support beating children in state custody to death? If so, Charlie's your man.

By the way, the article about Davis, I noticed that Crist's spokesperson happens to be Greek. Looks to me like the felosers are a key part of Crist's campaign. Crist is Greek too and nothing against Greeks but the ones in Tampa Bay are felosers.

How do they handle a teen murder who was in state custody? They start closing boot camps to cover up the cover up.

The public will think how good it is to close boot camps but behind the curtain, FLA AG CRIST is not prosecuting the handful of deputies and the nurse who were not only civilly negligent but criminally negligent in Martin Anderson's death from a beating.

Jeb said "He's not changing his approach re: Martin Anderson". Of course not. Good old boys never do. At least Martin's mom now knows that Jeb just met her for show, just like with Terri's parents. Behind the scenes, the sellout of the Fla Constitution proceeds.

Charlie Crist is dangerous and incompetent. Slippery slope ahead...

Teh state government and the Federal government should have done more to save Terri. I would simply have sent state officials in to save her life, then led them in there. Would anyone actually have arrested duly constituted officers of teh Executive Branch? Would anyone have tried arresting the Governor?

How the heck can Crist say he's pro-life if even one person is killed in Florida? I bet the death lobby/cult is financing Crist's campaign even though outwardly he makes a weak claim to be pro-life.

Personally, in addition to be pro-life, in the case of human rights, I AM ANTI-MURDER.

TERRI WAS MURDERED.

People, Crist didn't investigate the crooked judges, DCF workers or medical personnel, etc. because he runs with them.

If you are pro-murder, vote for Crist. Terri was murdered.

www.northcountrygazette.org has in depth reporting on what happened to Terri. I was at the Vigil when state troopers simply turned around and that was the first week when Terri was still doing pretty well.

Why'd they turn around? That's the million dollar question.

I was in Orlando when the US Coast Guard rescue was cancelled. Why'd they stop the rescue to fly Terri out of Florida to a safe location? It was in the works but was cancelled the day they were going to move. That's a trillion dollar question. Mark Reynolds, US Coast Guard: "mission cancelled".

If Crist becomes governor, what happens with the next Terri case? They'll be murdered too, by Crist's judge and doctor pals. His opinion matters if he's a governor. His job as Fla AG was to protect everybody's civil rights, including Terri's. He protected Judge Greer instead. Judge Greer belongs in jail. Crist and Greer go way back in Pinellas County. This is about corruption, not just about opinions.

Witnessing an atrocity in living color, in person changes one's perspective. Charlie Crist imo is pro-murder. If that sounds radical, trust me, I witnessed how the fix to kill Terri was in. It changed my view of politics and govt forever.

Amerika, wake up.

In an interview, Crist minimized his differences with the governor.

Mr. Crist is lower than slime for politicizing Terri Schiavo's tragic case for his own personal gain. And then he tap-dances and tries to "minimize" it after he takes his shot.

Where are the Republicans?

I think Crist spoke at some lawyer's association praising Greer right after Terri died. There is a big move on in the conversative associations here for Crist also - our town paper had an article about it.

The powers that be have anointed Crist. But I am voting for Gallagher.
