I layed in a three month supply of Diesel over the Easter weekend. I'll spend this summer building infrastructure to store up to nine to twelve months worth (A big old truck capable of holding and hauling some old home fuel oil tanks). This is pathetic for most to think the government has to so something. In fact it's unAmerican. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.
I have two of those old fuel oil trucks. The problem is diesel is ok to store up, (I burn it all on the farm anyways) but gas goes bad after 3 months unless you spend alot on preservative. Even then it still goes stale after a while.
I've tried pouring ethanol into it as well, but it still goes stale afer 4 months or so. It still burns, but you can smell it. They don't make gas like they used to.
Just curious. What is the shelf life of diesel fuel? I was thinking of doing the same thing with gasoline, but worry about it going bad before I used it all.
