He was Reagan's SecDef when our F-111's almost got Gaddaffi in Lybia.

Yes, I'd say he knew quite a bit about defeating evil. He and President Reagan won that little thing called the Cold War.

Caspar Weinberger was a good man. His book is a must read.

Amen to that. Cap Weinberger was SecDef when I joined the military - it was nice retiring with Rumsfeld in the position (beats William Cohen!).

I just retired after 23 years of military service (the first three being in the Army, last 20 in the USAF). I like Rumsfeld, BUT (and this isn't his fault), there was nothing better than serving when Cap Weinberger was SecDef and Ronald Reagan was President! I joined up because of Ronald Reagan. Imagine my trepidation at the thought of receiving my retirement certificate signed by John Kerry! I was very glad when Bush won reelection!
