This sounds like Catholic teaching on homosexuality, but of course it comes from the Liberal Icon Dalai Lama rather than that mean old Pope, so the Dalai will get a pass ...

<< 'Westerners are too self-absorbed' - dalai lama >>

What's a dali lama when it's not First Class, Five Starring and gold Rolex good timing it around the planet in its Gucci boots?

A pontificating pagan-heathen by any other name.

"It is fascinating," he says, speaking in slightly stilted English. "In the West, you have bigger homes, yet smaller families; you have endless conveniences - yet you never seem to have any time. You can travel anywhere in the world, yet you don't bother to cross the road to meet your neighbours...

Sounds like my college PoliSci professor!

The West's big problem, he believes, is that people have become too self-absorbed...They have less resilience, they expect more, they constantly compare themselves to others and they have too much choice - which brings no real freedom."

It is rare that I find myself agreeing with the Dalai Lama. Remind me again why libs drool over him. He is to the Left what Christopher Hitchens is to the Right.

"I see women who have had abortions because they thought a child would ruin their lives. A baby seemed unbearable - yet now they are older, they are unable to conceive. I feel so sorry for them."

They need to discover an inner strength, he tells them. "The West is now quite weak - it can't cope with adversity and it has little compassion for others. People are like plants - they can develop ways of countering negative forces. If people took more responsibility for their own problems, they would become more self-confident."

He seems to see the West quite well IMO.

I agree. Most Christian immigration activists assume that the liberal way is the compassionate way, and they want to be compassionate. They certainly don't realize that they're blundering into unintended bad consequences that could last for generations, harming the poor (in Mexico and the USA) in rather grievous ways.

Maybe we should be trying to communicate with the ones who are two-pews-over-on-the-left but good-hearted -- in our own churches --- and not waste so much time waging fruitless controversies with... well, you know.

Peace to you.

I wouldn't group him in with Liberals since he is a hated target too.

See this Iranian Military Presentation:

Iran's Royal Presentation

The US, Israel and Tibet are the targets of their missles.

AND, China has the Dalai Lama's followers held as prisoners for their body parts:

Heart recipients' hospital has China death-row link

Excerpt:

A Chinese official was the first person to reveal that secret medical work was being done at the Liaoning Provincial Thrombosis Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, in Sujiatun, a suburb of Shenyang, the major city in northeastern China, he said.

Mr. Jin then said he found out that a large underground prison was built beneath the hospital and that members of the outlawed Falun Gong religious group were being held there. As many as 6,000 people are thought to be held prisoner at the underground facility, he said.

The hospital is harvesting the organs of the prisoners, including kidneys, livers, and eye parts, he said. The organs are then sold to people, from both China and abroad, who need medical organ transplants.

(snip)

So we have more in common with the Dala Lama than the stand on homosexualality. Our enemies want them dead too.
