Reacting to the impending deal, Catholic League President Bill Donohue released a statement, "After I lashed out against Opie and Anthony for providing an on-air account of a sexual stunt in St. Patricks Cathedral in 2002, they were fired by Infinity Broadcasting, the CBS Radio outlet. Once they were dumped, I withdrew the complaint that I had filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and asked the FCC to drop its investigation. On August 5, 2004, I issued a news release about the decision of XM Satellite Radio to pick up the duo beginning October 4. At that time I said, We wish Opie and Anthony well and trust they have learned their lesson. Now CBS Radio is set to bring them back on its Free-FM outlets."
The statement continued, "To those who say you cant go home again, I say nonsense: In the year-and-a-half that Opie and Anthony have been on XM Satellite, not a single complaint has reached our office about anything theyve said. Indeed, when the two shock jocks were picked up by XM, their producer called one morning and asked if I would go on the air with them. Though I had some reservations, I said yes, and was immediately put through. They made it clear that they regretted the St. Patricks stunt. We mixed it up for a bit and had a great time. In short, the Catholic League hopes Opie and Anthony have a great run on CBS Radio."

Not that I would ever listen to Opie and Anthony, just not my thing.
Ask for forgivness and it will be given.
Sheesh... I was just starting to like David Lee Roth.
I was never a big O&A fan though.
Bring back Ron & Fez!
"Catholic League Forgives Opie and Anthony"
Like they had a choice. ;)
I think the friends and family of the guy who particpated in the St. Patrick's stunt really regretted it. He died at 37 years of a age from a heart attack. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Sheesh... I was just starting to like David Lee Roth.
That makes three - you, David and his mom. 8-)
I wish theyd just put Beetlejuice on for four hours everyday, and let him take phone calls from the listeners.
RAMOOOOOOOOAN! The Catholic Church has blessed the boys.
Anybody catch the irony here. CBS is hiring a couple of guys who are still broadcasting on satellite radio (XM), after firing the guy (Roth) who was to replace Howard Stern. That Les Moonves is an idiot.
They really have done a much better show than then. Count me as an O&A and XM fan.
Eh, I heard when Donohue was on the phone with O&A and I don't remember O&A "asking for forgiveness" or explicitly apologizing.
I hope they don't water their show down for syndication. It should be the same show just bleeped for the freeloaders. If they want to hear it all they can pony up and buy a subscription.
They were great in the 90s.
Grunge ruined WAAF. The only good thing about the station was the DJs... O & A with John Osterlind and "Rocco".
I rather listen to Howard.
Don't worryall the hints are for a dumped FM feed, with the XM feed remaining raw and unedited.
The topics may be a bit limited for the beginning of the show, but it'll be full-tilt after 9 AM (which is pretty much the same way it is now).
My prediction: Opie and Anthony to #1 in the Arbitron ratings in at least NYC.
I listen to Adam Carolla, hes good, but he was about twice as funny on Loveline which is on at night
I never heard of these guys until last year when I bought a new Avalon that had XM. I listened one day on my 1 hour commute to work and I've been a fan ever since.
I used to listen to him on Love Lines. He's not funny anymore. I miss listening to Robin do the morning news.
That's awesome! They're really the only reason I keep XM around. I'm totally hooked on that show, and I'm sorta in the same boat you are. (I don't like to admit it, but I used to prefer Don and Mike to O&A. I've learned my lesson. ;) )
Lex and Terry!
