An old lady, almost in tears, with the cameraman soothing her. She looked not the least bit threatening.
"Harrassing"? Well, that's in the eye of the beholder. Do foreign dictators have a right not to be harrassed now? Is Washington D.C. now a Free-Speech Denied Zone?
As for the comment "your days are numbered", again I think it is a huge stretch to construe that as a threat. More of a classic Marxist pronouncement on the inevitability of history, or something.
I'm not shocked that this is being brought, but saddened. It is unworthy of our Republic to punish people for merely embarrassing tyrants. "The right to petition for redress of grievances". I would be a very hard jury-person to convince in this trial.
The most fitting punishment would be a firing of who ever was in charge of security. That was way too close to our POTUS for comfort!
From your keyboard to G-d's flat-screen display!
All I can say is, wish she didn't say that. They wouldn't have anything at all against her.
Just some additional information here but Wang Wenyi is not an accredited journalist but a pathologist affiliated with The Epoch Times.
Second comment, her tirade went on for several minutes before the secret service dragged her out. "Stop persecuting Falun Gong" and "Your days are numbered" were the least of what she said. In between was the standard litany of Falun Dafa/Epoch Times talking points, Falun Dafa Hao! (Falun Dafa is great/good), heavenly retribution, resign from the communist party, etc.
March in the streets, preaching sedition, while in the country illegally...no legal response whatsoever.
Smack an "uppity" Capitol cop, "while guilty of being black in Congress"...'still investigating' after two weeks.
'Upset' a Commie dictator...charged within 24 hours.
We all know what is wrong with this picture; the question is, what to do about it?
Madame Wang Wenyi is a heroine for standing up to the murderous, organ harvesting regime!!
Harry Wu is, undoubtedly, most proud of her.
Her predecessor at Tienneman Square, may have been her
inspiration!
The Bush Admin has a chance to quietly make sure these charges are dropped. If they don't, then sadly add me to those who have been a longstanding supporter of the President but who reluctantly conclude that his time in office will ultimately be judged as more a failure than success. He's done some great things, some very visionary actions for the country's defense, many great court appointments, and advocated many conservative solutions to issues facing the country. But all too often he hasn't actually pushed hard enough to actually implement, hasn't led and been virtually invisible, and been reactionary and too late on too many important issues. Way too many missed opportunities, for a variety of reasons. This case is kinda the tipping point for me.
President Bush - at times the vision of Reagan, but too often the effectiveness of Carter.
