In McCarthy's final position at the CIA, she was assigned to its Office of Inspector General, looking into allegations that the CIA was involved in torture at Iraqi prisons, according to a former colleague who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the case is under investigation.

If that is true it would have made her directly involved with investigations in questions regarding torture, secret renditions etc.

There are so many really rotten people on the payroll. And the reality is. It has been this way for a very long time.
With modern means of getting the word out and their (leakers, those who plot against the integrity of the USA, etc.), it only now seems like things have gotten worse. So much for so many years had gone unreported, or reported in such a way to protect those that work against the best interests of the USA.
But I maintain it has long been the case, just now growing numbers of Americans have the means to more closely observe how they plot and weave.
