I agree. My point was that I already don't watch TV, and this makes me even less likely to want to.
In the Boston market the advertisers are already doing that. The advertisers and the program managers control the content on newscasts. The three main network stations, when they are in a ratings period, attempt to do the tease and switch method out of sync with the other stations to capture an audience for the whole half hour, but during other times the stations actually have exactly the same timing of breaks, the same stories in each segment, and get this, the exactly the same commercial in each break. So even if one clicked between stations, one would be forced to view the same commercial.
Don't think about modifying that TV once you purchase it. I'm sure you will have to sign some EULA saying that you are verboten to alter your TV after purchase.
One control they probably can't disable is the "OFF" switch. If they manage to do even that, there is always the plug to pull...
Just wait until there's interactive TV, and you will have to answer correctly a quiz about the commercial before proceeding to the show.
I don't have to watch. I watch little TV as it is.
