Could someone confirm whether the public will be allowed to ask questions?

If so, let's try and craft some interesting ones. They need to be short, self-contained, and difficult to weasel out of.

1. George P. Bush was scheduled to speak at the Dallas march on 4/09/06. Does that signify that the Bush family supports citizens of other countries marching in our streets demanding rights to which they aren't entitled?

2. Hundreds of thousands of citizens of other countries are marching in our streets and making a show of force. They demand that we change our laws to suit them. If we refuse to surrender, what are the chance that you think some of them will riot? Has your failure to secure our borders and oppose illegal immigration put the U.S. at great risk of civil disturbances?

3. On dozens of occasions, you've promoted your "guest" worker program. However, wouldn't our "guests" end up staying here permanently? Their children will be U.S. citizens, they'll buy homes and start businesses, and on and on. In short, nothing is going to make them leave. By calling it a "guest" worker program, haven't you simply been lying?

"Their children will be U.S. citizens, they'll buy homes and start businesses, and on and on. In short, nothing is going to make them leave."

Been going on since before California became a state. Until recently a fellow named Tom Fuentes was Chairman of the Republican party in Orange County.

Orange County has a higher percent hispanic than San Diego County. Of course LA County is higher, I think.

My only point is this: There are many hispanic origin citizens in California, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, etc.

Many of them have empathy for the illegal immigrants. Very likely most would vote for a guest worker plan including a path to citizenship. Democrats and Republicans alike.

The politics of the 2006 mid-term election are being waged, with both sides playing to all voters. That includes hispanic voters--the fastest growing demographic in the country at this time.

As to your questions about questions from the public: Get a ticket and go to the event. It is not a big public forum type event, but I expect Bush will get an earfull.

The Sheriff of OC is beginning tougher handling of illegals. Costa Mesa is the FIRST city in the USA to take an official position to get involved with illegal immigrant work.

Gilgrest is from OC. This is not a place where Bush can just hide out in a meeting of illegal-immigrant friendly businesspersons.
