Talked to my son as he waited to embark. Marines patrol! They walk every street, every alley, they poke their noses into shops and watch everything/everybody. Bad guys know if they try to pull any $hit, they will have, in essence, stuck their hand in a meat grinder.

Army guys, I duuno - death before dismount I guess. They drive around a lot. Maybe it works, but compare causality rates in Al Anbar between the Army and Marines.

Foot patrols send a strong message - sort of like staring Death in the face every day at close range....

How about you just stick with that thought. How about you compare the numbers on the ground of Marines versus Soldiers. Marines are well-trained and tough, but they have the same infantry training we do in the Army.

Well, I guess that's what I was confused about. The email seemed to say that they spent all day in the house and didn't leave for any reason...?? But maybe I misread it...
