Insults don't change my original contention. People who remember Reagan accurately.........who admired him for his strength and leadership.........also admire Bush for those same qualities.

Those of us who were true Reagan supporters are also supporters of this President, and those who now deify Reagan and hate Bush, were most likely never supporters of Reagan in the first place.

(Either that, or did so in ignorance then, or now have fuzzy memories now).

With all due respect, you are wrong.

Although I don't 'hate' President Bush he is not fit to carry Reagan's briefcase.

Reagan started from poverty, had several careers (sportscaster, actor, public speaker) on his own merits, had a coherent philosophy for 40 years before running, spent decades as an activist and voice in the wilderness before overcoming an incumbent president, clearly defining who the enemy was and leading the charge that led to the downfall of not just the Soviet Union but Soviet Communism.

President Bush, by contrast, can honestly claim to be better than John Kerry or Al Gore on the issues most of interest to most conservatives, and probably is not a bad or dishonest man who sincerely loves his country and tries to do what he thinks is best for it damn the consequences, but one was a Hero and great leader for the ages and the other merely a decent guy and better than some pretty miserable alternatives on most issues.
