Wish we had that rate in Texas. My property taxes went up almost $400 to $3100.

I lived in Maryland until 2004, and had a house that sold for $380K. The property (including school) taxes were $3000 per year. I suspect that the amount mentioned does not include school taxes.

We called it the People's Republic of Maryland. Maryland has a state income tax and each county has a piggback income tax!

That's the state property tax alone, county property taxes are additional and range from 41 cents to 2.31 (!) in Baltimore City. Average is around 80-90 cents.
