I don't get it! I read through this article three times and cannot find one word about IMMIGRATION as a key issue re the 'latest drop' in Bush's performance record! Anyone of Bush's advisors can tell him he'd gain at least 40 points just by closing that *#^%$^U border! WHAT is GWB not understanding?!

Immigration and border control is potentially an incredible win-win issue for him. Whomever is advising Bush on this is doing a poor job.

Oh yea, and economy's TANKING. We're DOOOMED. /sarc
I mean, how *thick* one would have to be to believe that the economy is in trouble !? Helloooo ? Anyone see Dow go up almost 300pts this week ? In spite of high oil prices ? Hellooo ?
But yea. Close the border and see 20pts bounce, easy.

FOX Poll: Gloomy Economic Views;
In other news, the DOW + S&P HAVE REACHED 5 YEAR HIGHS
To: Grendel9
So federal revenues are up 15% one year and 10% the next,
unemployment is at 4.7% and that equals doom and gloom?
When has perception ever trumpted reality.
To: Grendel9
Dang... if a Fox poll has him at 33%, he's in REALLY bad shape.
How on earth he can be rated so poorly on the economy is just beyond me... His PR staff is completely inept.

Not only that but what does Rummy have to do with the economy? W hasn't been listening to his constituents for a while now.

I am anxiously awaiting the WH PR machine defenders response. Having Rove and McClenen leave this part of the White House could have not come too soon.
I don't get what's wrong with the American Sheeple. The economy (save energy prices) is doing very well if not better if you apply the Clinton and MSM standard on the mid and late 90's. And they think things are gloomy???

Not a problem. Change a couple of staffers and he will be back to full popularity in no time! (/sarcasm)
To: Grendel9
most Americans rate the current economy negatively, and twice as many say it feels like the economy is getting worse rather than better. Who are these numbskulls???

It's the economy, stupid. (so they say)
There is a direct correlation between Bush's poll numbers and the price of gasoline (Which should be 3.70 if it was 1.85 at 35.00/barrel it should be double, shouldn't it?)

On a Fox Poll? That low?
That's a heck of a lot of people that voted for this man, that are very angry at him.

... maybe even a 30+ bounce. I don't get it. This guy is up to his eyeballs in alligators, but still is showing more allegiance to the illegals than the citizens. There has got to be more to the story of immigration than anyone is letting on.

And nobody had better make a dumb comment like "He's not up for reelection again."
His popularity will have a direct effect on the mid term elections and what he is likely to accomplish.

Bush needs to learn from the Clinton PR model...plain and simple. If he pushed the good economy news that is really going on as much as he pushes the war on terror news the polls would be in the low 40s and not the low 40s. People also react to their pockets as far as gas, grocery, and insurance prices go...and those are through the roof.

His stubbornness on immigration is costing him his base. He's in too deep to flip flop like he did on Miers and Dubai. The race baiters on the left will eat him alive if he flips on immigration and conservatives will never agree to a guest worker program. It's a tough position to be in. His advisors have not been served well on this issue.

They will probably issue an apology for the POTUS calling the NSA leak "a despicable act".

No, the two arent directly related. If oil jumps so does gasoline, however there is not a defined ratio. Supply and shipping has alot more to do with the actual price than the $/barrel does.
